Fort Dodge wrestling doesn't ask for respect. It has been earning it since 1927. Under coach Fred Cooper, the Dodgers built one of the most dominant prewar dynasties in Iowa history — state titles in 1927, 1929, 1930, 1931, 1932, 1934, 1936, and 1937, then again in 1941. Nine championships before World War II. Coach Don Miller revived the dynasty in the modern era with back-to-back 3A titles in 1980 and 1985, coaching six individual champions and 99 state qualifiers over 18 years. The 2018 squad added another team title. And in 2026, Dreshaun Ross became the 34th four-time boys state champion in Iowa history — the latest name in a lineage that runs from Bill Koll's three straight NCAA titles and 1948 Olympic team berth all the way to the present mat.
